About Jaie

Jaie

Psychologist and Founder

I’m Jaie, a psychologist, a parent and the founder of JD Therapy.

I work with adults, young people and parents. People come to see me for many reasons. Some are navigating anxiety or feeling overwhelmed. Some are exploring autism or ADHD, sometimes later in life. Others are adjusting to change, or finding that the ways they’ve been coping are becoming harder to sustain.

How I work

I value a warm, collaborative therapeutic relationship. I take time to understand your experiences, strengths and needs, and the context of your life, before we decide on a direction together.

We work at your pace, with room for your individual ways of thinking, communicating and experiencing the world. You don’t need to have everything figured out, or know exactly what to say, before coming along.

I draw on approaches including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), DBT-informed therapy, schema therapy, mindfulness, compassion-focused therapy and, for younger children, play-based therapy. I adapt these to you rather than fitting you to a model. More about therapy.

Why I started JD Therapy

I started JD Therapy to make psychological support more affordable and accessible across Melbourne, particularly for parents balancing appointments with family responsibilities.

As a parent myself, I know how much can sit behind the decision to seek support: finding the time, managing the cost and making space for your own needs while caring for others. Every person and family has their own experience, and I don’t assume mine reflects yours. It does shape how the practice runs, though. Telehealth and outreach appointments are part of that, as is being clear about fees from the start.

When you come to see me as an adult, the focus is on you and your needs, whatever else you’re carrying.
